About WNT

Wednesday Night Tutoring (WNT) is a youth-based volunteer tutoring program providing academic assistance to refugee and migrant children living in the Richmond housing commission flats.  Whilst one of our goals is to provide academic assistance to the students, we also aim to act as positive role models for the kids.

Our students come from a variety of cultural backgrounds, predominantly Sudanese, Vietnamese and Ethiopian.  We tutor students from prep to year 12 in ESL, basic Maths and English.

Tutors are matched with students based on their own strengths and the student’s academic needs. Tutors are required for students of all year levels, from prep students learning to read and write, to VCE students needing subject-specific assistance.

The majority of WNT tutors are studying at University but we welcome anyone over the age of 18 to sign up. Tutoring occurs from 6.45 to 8.15pm on Wednesday nights and follows the public school/university term dates, running for approximately 23 weeks each year.
