WNT History

Wednesday Night Tutoring began in April 2000, with just seven tutors and one family.  This first night was organized by James Lee, a passionate participant of the Friday Night School Program during his time at Xavier College.

His aim was to create a new, informal tutoring service that would allow university students to offer their assistance, as the Friday evening session did not fit in with their university schedules.

For the first few months, James and the six other tutors continued to return on a weekly basis to tutor the family in their flat, focusing on reading with the children and helping them with their homework.

Wednesday Night Tutoring is still going strong with more and more students participating in the program and a substantial team of volunteers supporting them.
